Mid-Century Modern Home Renovation
Adler’s Design Center & Hardware, has been a staple in the Providence community for decades and above everything, superb customer service tops the list as our number one priority - and we hope our customers would agree too! A big part of our business stems from home renovations, and whenever possible, we love to go that extra mile to help the homeowner achieve their vision. So when we got the opportunity to help with a mid-century modern home renovation we were very excited! We were involved in a little bit of everything from decorative hardware, to paint, wallpaper, and fabrics, as well as overall design advice and contractor referrals.
Harry assisted with paint consultations and helping to find the perfect C2 Paint colors to complement the home’s classic aesthetic. The biggest paint challenge though was for the exterior of the home. Jennifer, the design consultant, described she wanted a bold look that would modernize the traditional white painted brick. At one point there were eight different colors painted in stripes on the front of the house, trying to determine what color to use and Harry would stop by and give his opinion and mix new colors for them. One day, Jennifer stopped by Adler’s and said she wanted “just a little pot of black paint,” and Harry said,
“One way or the other it's going to be spectacular. It's either gonna be spectacularly horrible or spectacularly beautiful.”
We laughed about it, but ultimately the black paint was a hit and totally brought the home into the 21st century.
When it came to the decorative hardware, Jennifer and Stephen worked with Marc to help find the right style hardware to honor the origins of the home, while making it functional for today’s living. And of course, the one they chose looked like there was going to be a six week lead time. But Marc offered to dig into to and somehow managed to turn six weeks into a few days!
“As far as I’m concerned, there’s no greater definition of customer service than Adler’s”, says Stephen.
Suzanne and Isabelle were on hand in the Design Center to offer advice on fabrics and wallpaper for the home too. “One of the benefits of working with Adler’s and visiting the shop is you can do your own thing and meander through the fabric books and the wallpaper books. And if you need advice, they're there, but there's, there's no pressure. I have a knack for picking things that may not be readily available or are, you know, outside of, of budget. And they kept me on track,” said Jennifer.
“They’re not trying to sell you something, they’re trying to help you find exactly what you’re looking for.”
