Partners In Preservation: Adler’s & Providence Preservation Society
Adler’s Works With the Providence Preservation Society to Help Restore The Wedding Cake House and Other Historic Homes.
Historical buildings that are well cared for makes living in a city like Providence magical. It brings us a strong sense of place. Harry Adler, owner of Adler’s Design Center & Hardware stated, “The Providence Preservation Society is the most critical organization in helping preserve and maintain historical buildings.”
If you aren’t familiar with the Providence Preservation Society (PPS), it’s an education and advocacy organization that does whatever it takes to preserve some of the most special places in their community. Adler’s has been supporting the organization for over 30 years through product donations, workshops, and wealth of knowledge about historic homes. We sponsor “workshops because their mission to maintain and beautify old homes is so integral to the success of our business”, said Harry. The housing stock closest to Adler’s consists of mainly historical homes.
Through the PPS Partners in Preservation program, “Adler’s has been supportive of endangered properties like the Wedding Cake House”, shared Brent Runyon, Executive Director of the PPS. The Wedding Cake House helps define that you are in Providence, RI and nowhere else. As Harry put it, “losing a place like that would be tragic.” As soon as Harry stepped foot inside the iconic home, he knew Adler’s had to help in any way they could.
As a local business that’s been around for 102 years, we strongly believe being apart of preserving our community’s history is just as important as running our own business.
