Here in the decorative hardware department at Adler’s, we recently got a new Baldwin Hardware display - and it’s really beautiful and awesome. It took us two years to get it, but it's here, so we're excited. Over here on the lower left corner board you can see 14 knobs. Believe it or not, they are all the same knob. But what this board does is tell you the different colors or finishes that are available from Baldwin today. You've got your dark finishes, your blacks, your oil, rubber bronze, your satin nickels, your brasses. What's popular today? Black, Satin Nickel, Satin Brass are very popular and polished nickel and polished chrome are as well. So they've really narrowed down their finishes, but they have all the really popular ones available today.

You’ll also notice on the display a plaque that says “Quick Ship”. In prior years, if you wanted a Baldwin product you would have to order each and every piece separately. So you'd order a rosette and a knob or a lever, and then you'd order the latch and they had all their parts in the warehouse, except it took them about four weeks to ship out. Now they have sets that you can get. They're all ready to go, so you can get them quickly, usually within a week - especially their most popular finishes, knobs and levers. So if you have a job they have and you have the contractor coming in a week, we can help you out.

On the other side of the display is the Baldwin Exterior lock set collection. These would typically be used in your front entrance because they're so large and they really make a statement. The majority of lock sets nowadays are tubular lock sets, where many of your doors come pre-cut out for one of these. You have your deadbolt up here, you have your latch over here.

But, if your door hasn't been cut out when you receive it, then you have the option of doing a mortise lock instead, and Baldwin makes some of the finest mortise lock sets in the world. A mortise lock set requires special installation. It would need a big block of wood removed so they can fit inside, and you make sure that you have an installer who's had a lot of experience with these types of lock sets because they're not easy to install. A special feature available from Baldwin is that you can have full control over the deadbolt and the latch at the same time. So if you had a fire and you had to leave your house in a hurry, you turn the knob and you control both the deadbolt and the latch together. Just turn the knob and you're out of there.

We also carry contemporary and traditional lock sets styles too, most of which can be both tubular or mortise. Digital lock sets are also very popular today. Just push the buttons and you can open it. You have your choice of many different styles in many different finishes.

Adler’s is a decorative hardware showroom, and that means although we don't inventory all these products, we display all the options and can get them very quickly for you. Don’t hesitate to come in so we can show you what's available, give you pricing, and get your order in and you'll get it quickly.
